Information about NNASC
You
don't need to own an Aussie to
join NNASC; ASCA sanctions
agility trials, tracking events,
herding, fly ball and obedience
trials in which any dog,
including mixed breeds, can
compete and earn titles. If you
do have an Aussie and it isn't
registered with ASCA, chances are
that it still can be, if it meets
the Aussie conformation standard.
While NNASC does sanction several
NADAC agility trials in northern
Nevada, we also hold ASCA herding
events, and our annual High
Sierra Summer Classic - Obedience
& Conformation Show every
June. Our club's emphasis is not
on showing, though. Our
membership is comprised of people
who like to do a wide variety of
fun things with their Aussies,
including hiking, practical
obedience training, and just
relaxing with their favorite
couch potatoes. NNASC does not
usually have monthly meetings
(unless necessary). We gather
when we have business to do,
events to plan, and to socialize.
Meetings are held at a
restaurant, or a member's house,
where we have lunch or dinner. An
effort is made to schedule them
between Reno, Carson City, and
Gardnerville, Nevada so that
members aren't always having to
drive a distance.
We take great pride in member
Kathy Givens' work Aussie Rescue.
A portion of our proceeds from
NNASC events is donated to Kathy
to help fund her work. It's very
important to us.
So, thank you for your interest
in the Northern Nevada Australian
Shepherd Club. We very much
appreciate your membership, and
know that you and your dog(s) are
going to have a lot of fun with
us!
